Paul Cimins interviews Jim Elliott, who left a successful career in the media business to launch Diveheart a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization that helps build confidence and independence in children, veterans and others with disabilities through zero gravity and Scuba Therapy. Diveheart seeks to instill the can-do spirit in its participants. Diveheart doesn’t discriminate when it comes to working with people with disabilities and serves cognitively and physically impaired individuals worldwide. 

Since 2001 Elliott, who is a volunteer with no salary, has initiated Scuba Therapy research with university medical centers around the country, including the first study on Autism and Scuba Therapy and the world’s most innovative Adaptive Scuba Training program for instructors, dive buddies and Adaptive Divers.  He also lectures and trains dive professionals in the “Business of Adaptive Scuba.”

Suffering was the springboard from his childhood into a precarious relationship as he climbed the ranks as a police officer.  His suffering spiraled after a nearly fatal shooting while on active duty. 

This incident became an ideal storm in which he began the dependent dance with alcohol, drugs, suicidal ideations, and depression. 

Now clean and sober, Kevin is a leading advocate for mental health, especially for those on the front line. Kevin is a keynote speaker and the face for the men in crisis across the east coast.  Kevin is the host of the critically acclaimed podcast, The Suffering Podcast, which ranks in the top 1% globally.

Kendall is a cartoonist, writer, and minister born and raised in Dallas, TX. 
He earned a Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism from Oklahoma Christian University and a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Dallas Baptist University. 

He writes and draws a webcomic called "By and By," which focuses on the misadventures of an 11-year-old boy and his constant struggle to understand the world around him.

Kendall also uses comics and written work to share his experiences relating to faith, ADHD, Autism, and life. 

Kendall is married to his wife, Rachel, and they enjoy art, travel, and food together.
